Tuition Increases

More increases on tuition, are you joking? When are the universities going to stop this uphill climb and reach the summit? Ultimately, this is not joke. Tuition cost is on the rise yet again. They are affecting us even here if you didn't know that already. There is a proposed 15% increase by the year 2012 and a 22% increase by 2013. Know they always want to know why college kids are so broke? There's your answer. Especially in today's economy where there is a competitive market for jobs, even if you have a college degree.

There is speculation that the increase in tuition is due to the fact that government funding from grants have cause the universities to increase their funding. Due to the fact that the universities know that each student has an opportunity to be awarded these grants they choose to raise the tuition as well. I think there are several solutions to solving this problem. First of all, don't raise the cost of tuition. Second, there are other programs out there that can best suit the students. Take the Alabama College Tuition Plan for example. This plan models an agreement allowing free tuition for 44,000 students. Free tuition! If we can come up with a plan like that there is no reason to ever borrow a loan or pay out your pocket for your tuition.

Lastly I would like to mention the amount of debt the average graduate accumulates within the time they are in college. Paying back loan after loan because the cost of tuition was just too high. The average college graduate racks up a whopping $30,000 in debt.

I believe if you got a voice you should use it.
